Avalanche killed 10 mountaineers in the northeastern Zigana Mountain

Avalanche killed 10 mountaineers in the northeastern Zigana Mountain Governor Enver Salihoğlu of Gümüşhane said on Sunday that 10 mountaineers were killed in the avalanche which occurred in Zigana Mountain of Torul town in the northeastern province of Gümüşhane earlier today. Salihoğlu told the Anatolian that 16 mountaineers were predicted to be trapped under snow, adding that 10 bodies had been pulled from the avalanche so far. Also six mountaineers were rescued and taken to hospitals; and one of them was in bad condition, he added. Search and rescue efforts are underway.
